Tresorit constitutes the reference for extreme privacy in the cloud sphere. For Italian dental, a tool of a different nature is required, yet equally rigorous.
Tresorit (Send included) is probably the most rigorous cloud service in terms of end-to-end zero-knowledge encryption commercially available in Europe. Hosted in Switzerland and Ireland, certified ISO 27001 and BSI C5, it constitutes the choice of those placing absolute privacy first — legal practices, investigative journalism, pharmaceutical research.
For Italian dental, the difference is one of perspective: cryptographic privacy is part of the problem, but not the entire problem. For a custom-made medical device, MDR additionally requires a structured audit trail, documented ten-year retention, retention in an archival format (PDF/A) remaining legible ten years later. Encryption alone is not sufficient.

Tresorit Send is included in Tresorit Premium (€8.50/month individual, up to €24/user Business). It permits 5 GB per transfer, seven-day retention on Send, with larger files handled via the principal Tresorit storage.
CadCamCloud Pro €12/month annual (€15 monthly) is flat for the lab — all operators included, client practices free — with 75 GB included. Tresorit Premium individual €8.50 starts below in absolute value, yet is per-user: at five lab operators it entails approximately €42/month, CadCamCloud remains €12. And whilst Tresorit handles individual transfers, CadCamCloud is a persistent work item portal — distinct categories, not direct comparison. Premium €29-39/month with white-label for those requiring their own brand.
Tresorit Send has 5 GB per transfer, seven-day retention. The file is subsequently deleted, or upon reaching the maximum configured number of downloads. For larger files, recourse is had to the principal Tresorit storage, where retention is permanent for the duration of active subscription.
CadCamCloud accepts files up to 2 GB on Premium and Enterprise, ten-year retention explicit for each medico-legal submission. Retention does not depend on the active subscription: under a contractual clause, export of retained data is provided for even in the event of termination of the relationship.

CadCamCloud is not zero-knowledge: the audit trail requires that the platform detect who accesses what and when, in order to generate the logs necessary in the event of a Ministry audit. Standard at-rest and in-transit encryption, controlled application access. The compliance logic is distinct: not "no party may read" but rather "every read is tracked, attributed, archived". EU hosting (Hetzner DE, Wasabi EU). Immutable PDF/A, structured audit log for every access.
Tresorit Send is encrypted transfer; principal Tresorit is encrypted storage. Neither of the two has a native workflow of orders, forms, work item statuses. Integration with other systems occurs via API but remains at the storage primitive level.
CadCamCloud is designed around the order lifecycle. Forms configurable by the lab, statuses per file, structured search, API + webhooks for management system integration. The entire architecture is conceived for the specific dental workflow.
Tresorit Business+ supports white-label on Send links (client logo, custom domain on Enterprise). It is an option available but generalist, not specific to dental.
CadCamCloud Premium includes a public portal branded under your domain, public price list, gallery of your work, complete chromatic configuration. It is conceived as a commercial showcase of the lab, not as a mere download link.

Secure is a term with two meanings: confidentiality (who is enabled to read) and auditability (who has read what, when). Tresorit maximises confidentiality by preventing even the provider from reading. CadCamCloud maximises auditability by ensuring every access is tracked for MDR compliance. The two requirements are partially in tension: for Italian dental, auditability has higher priority than zero-knowledge.
Technically feasible, in practice counterproductive. Two parallel archives with healthcare data would result, complicating GDPR management (processing register, DPA, audit, accesses). It is preferable to select one tool suited to the primary use case.
Yes, storage and database are encrypted at-rest according to industrial standards (AES-256). The difference with Tresorit lies in the fact that CadCamCloud retains the key at the application level in order to generate audit logs and PDF/A. It is an explicit trade-off: zero-knowledge would not be compatible with the automatic generation of the immutable PDF/A and with public verification via QR.
No: the verification page confirms exclusively the authenticity and integrity of the document (cryptographic hash, timestamp, UUID), it does not expose clinical data to the public. The verifier views "this document is authentic, generated on [date], not modified subsequently" without viewing its content. It is the standard pattern of qualified EU digital signatures.
At the current state (2026-05) CadCamCloud is in the beta-go-live phase. ISO 27001 certification is on the roadmap for late 2026. MDR 2017/745 compliance on the manufacturer side remains the responsibility of the lab (the platform is a support tool); the platform is designed to facilitate its compliance by providing structured audit trail and ten-year archive.
